Put bluntly, the most impressive thing about the new Honda CB400F is this: it’s really fun. Like all Honda factory products, the 408cc six-speeder has been sanitized and polished to a glossy civility. The new four-into-one exhaust system, to cite a single example, removes all the exhaust noise at normal speeds in city and highway traffic. So begins the 1975 road test published in Cycle magazine. A comparison between the CB400F and the CB-1, Cycle 1989 Think 1975, that was the year Honda introduced its fist made-for-America motorcycle, the venerable Gold Wing, and launched a touring dynasty. It was also the year of the sporty CB400F, but you are forgiven if that bit of trivia slipped your mind. Maybe not the most popular of the SOHC/4 bikes when it was new, but tremendously desirable today and a blast to ride!
